Bali’s oldest beach resort retains its reputation as a glamorous alternative to nearby Kuta. The coastline of Sanur has a long stretch of white sand lined with restaurants and bars. It is tailor made for chic clientele or families wanting to relax in an exclusive resort or villa without the need to party into the wee hours.
Sanur is also a popular day trip destination for tourists staying in Kuta looking to do some water sports. There are many companies offering diving along its submerged outer reef, jet skiing on top of its blue waters or paragliding in the cool breezes above this ocean paradise.
The shoreline features a cycle path that is also perfect for walking and jogging. At its very northern tip is the ferry terminal that offers boat trips to Nusa Lembongan, a small island off the southeast coast of Bali that is famous for its laid-back atmosphere.
Sanur has its fair share of markets providing an impressive range of artistic handicrafts such as wood carvings and batik paintings. Best of these are the Sindhu Market and the daytime beachfront market.

Sanur is one of the quieter beaches in Bali. The tide goes a long way, so sometimes it is unsuitable for swimming. It is a good place to paddleboard. There are many restaurants and bars along the beach. I have noticed many families, so I assume it is a good place for people to travel with children. There is a long walking/cycling path along the beach.

Very laid back and relaxed compared to the noise, hustle and bustle you would experience in Kuta and Legian. Less crime. Easier to get around as not a lot of traffic (scooters or motor bikes). A lot cleaner and streets are better maintained to walk around. Beach sand/water very nice not a lot of rubbish around. Locals are really lovely and friendly, there was no aggressiveness or nasty locals at all. Prices are slightly higher in Sanur compared to Kuta and Legian but not substantially higher. Bars are not filled with young drunken loafs making a nuisance of themselves. Drink and food service very efficient. Suggest Sanur best for elderly folk as less riff raff. One of the great attractions of Sanur is that it's always been a little quieter than the Kutas and Canggus etc. However the huge new shopping centre right on the beach is going to ruin that. Very disappointed that this is happening.

I would definitely recommend Villa Mahapala to my friends and family, and would stay there again if we ever return to Sanur.

The location still provides very quiet experience because it is still far enough that you wont be hearing any loud clubbing noise from the beach club. Parking is great if you are bringing a car. The Gym equipment was all brand new.
